Cate Blanchett wins Best Actress award at the 2023 EE BAFTA Film Awards
Cate Blanchett, an Australian actress, was nominated in the best actress category for her role in Tár. She played the first female chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic, Lydia Tár.
Blanchett accepted her award with an emotional speech “Thank you to BAFTA for recognizing all of us,” she said before thanking her cast, crew and family. “Thank you for letting me go,” she said. “This was… It really did take a lot. It took me away from you an enormous lot. Thank you to my mum for holding the fort and my four extraordinary children.”
Blanchett: Elegant as Ever
In the style stakes, Cate Blanchett was as elegant as ever. The Best Actress nominee wore an understated black Maison Margiela dress with an open back. She completed her look with soft fringing on the sleeves and layered Louis Vuitton pearl necklaces.
Blanchett – a UNHCR goodwill ambassador – was one of many celebrities who added a blue ribbon to their outfit, symbolizing global solidarity with refugees and displaced people.
On the EE Bafta red carpet, actress Cate Blanchett appears to have worn the same black dress she wore to the 2015 Oscars.
